Welcome to the SureCell Medical Series - In this video we’re going to talk about the first large study to support the radiological benefits from PRP, published in May 2013.
In this study, Dr Halpern looked at the MRI scans of 22 patients who had PRP treatment for their knees. The patients had an MRI scan before treatment and one year after.
Normally, everyone loses about 5% of their cartilage height per year. Arthritis is another word for losing cartilage. In the study Halpern showed that patients who had been treated with PRP, on average, did not lose any cartilage height at all.
Because of this data the Surecell method involves a single “top-up” injection every year, even if pain has not yet started to return.
We believe that we cannot give you brand new joints, but PRP can halt the progress of arthritis and delay or remove the need for surgery.
It may also buy time for us to develop better solutions than knee joint replacement surgery, like stem cell treatment. The earlier you start to save a damaged joint the better.
If you want to learn more about PRP or share your experience, please leave your questions in the comments and our doctor on duty will answer them as soon as possible. We’re releasing a PRP, Stem Cells or health related video every week, so don’t forget to like and subscribe.
